So one of our part-timers bought a Sig 290 from us a week or so ago. This means that we all get to shoot it. All of us at the shop that day did just that. I really enjoyed shooting this pistol. It does seem small in hte hand but the recoil was very soft . I even put some 147gr +p through it and still very tame. Accuracy was just what I would expect from a Sig and not a single malfunction out of about 150 rounds. Some of the others who shoot it are members of this board so we will see if any of them have anything constructive to say on this matter.

I agree with leeboat.
Did I just say that? Did hell just freeze over? Have elephants begun to fly? Hmmmmmmmmmmm
On topic - the P290 is a viable contender for Top Gun in the current plethora of "pocket 9's" flooding the market lately. Having fondled them all, the 290 and the Kimber Solo are, IMHO, at the top of the heap.
Weight (290 is plastic, Solo is metal), ammo sensitivity (Kimber is restricted), and trigger feel give the edge to the Sig.
This is a pocket gun (or deep concealment); folks. The grip is too small to allow for 25yd marksmanship accuracy, although both guns would probably do well in that regard if shot from a vice. But the ergonomics and light recoil of the 290 make it easy to shoot well in a "close encounter of the dangerous kind."
